Assassin’s Creed Origins has three skill trees - Hunter, Warrior, and Seer. While it’s important for the player to invest in the Hunter and Warrior skills, the Seer skill tree should not be overlooked. There are lots of great Seer skills that should be bought as soon as possible with the player. However, some Seer skills are better than others so it is advised for players to prioritize the best skills to be efficient with their skill points. Assassin’s Creed Origins is one of the best RPGs of 2018 and a lot of that is due to its comprehensive system.

Updated October 13, 2022 by Patrick Armstrong: The Assassin’s Creed franchise has always been good at giving players multiple avenues by which to take down their targets. Straightforward aggression, aerial assaults, stealth, and mobility are all options. As long as the mission is accomplished (and the player has fun), all paths are equal.

Even if there’s no perfect path through the skill trees, there are some skills that stand out for making the game easier and making certain playstyles more viable. Whether it’s shopping, combat, or missions, each of these skills makes some part of the game better for players. Here are some top Seer skills for players to keep an eye on.

9 Dawn & Dusk

One of the most basic requirements for an open-world game to feel dynamic and alive is a day/night system. Allowing time to pass while the player completes adventures is about more than having gorgeous sunsets to look at while one is traveling. Specific quests can be linked to the passage of time, and the player can gain advantages from acting at particular times of the day.

The Dawn & Dusk ability allows players to force time to progress more quickly. In Assassin’s Creed Origins this is vital since some missions only advance at certain times of the day. Perhaps more importantly, passing time at will allows the player to set up deadly nighttime raids on enemy camps, using the darkness as a true assassin’s tool.

8 Buy Materials

Crafting can be a frustrating process if the player doesn’t have the materials they need. When all the player wants to do is make a new sword, it’s a pain having to scour the countryside in search of ingredients. The simply named Buy Materials ability circumvents the ingredient-hunting process by allowing the player to buy crafting ingredients from Blacksmiths and Weavers.

Though Buy Materials could be dispensed with and replaced with something more combat orientated, the ability to simply purchase what one needs is a significant quality-of-life upgrade that many players won’t want to pass on. Cutting down on the ingredient-hunting process and letting the player get back to the fun stuff is worth it in itself for many players.

7 Sleep Darts

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has changed a great deal from its first appearance. In recent games, playing AC as a pure stealth game is optional. Taking the fight to enemies head-on is totally doable with certain builds. That said, there will always be those who want to play the game as quietly and sneakily as possible to be a true silent assassin.

Sleep Darts facilitates this by allowing the player to take enemies down without causing a large, loud disruption. It doesn’t fit every playstyle, but for those who want a nonlethal ranged option, Sleep Darts is just the fix. Unlike some other build options, Sleep Darts requires solid tactical decision-making to get much value, but they’re incredible when they pay off.

6 Berserk

Berserk is a useful Seer Skill and one that can be obtained pretty early through the skill tree. Berserk is a substance that Bayek can use by putting it on unaware enemies with L3, sending them mad. Enemies will start attacking each other when struggling with this substance. Berserk is an attack option that Origins did better than Odyssey and Valhalla.

Berserk can help the player to stick to the shadows and let enemies kill each other, thinning the herd. This is particularly useful on Assassin’s Creed Origins’ Hard difficulty, where enemies are tougher to defeat.

5 Chariot Owner

While the horse in Assassin’s Creed Origins is quick and useful, summoning a War Chariot is cooler and gives the player better protection when traveling the sands across Egypt. Chariot Owner is a great Seer Skill that can be obtained after buying some of the early-level skills. While it does give the player greater speed and armor, it is much more noticeable, so players should make sure to swap back to their horse when venturing to areas in which they’d rather remain undetected.

Chariot Owner costs 2 Skill Points to purchase and effectively replaces the horse mount with a chariot for faster and better-protected traversal as well as helping the player to obtain some easy Origins trophies.

4 Breath Holding Champion

There are many hidden areas of Assassin’s Creed Origins that will require the player to traverse through underwater areas, searching for loot amidst shipwrecks and coves and all manner of different areas. There are creatures in the waters that will attack Bayek, which leads to there being a lot of pressure when searching for loot underwater.

The Breath Holding Champion Seer Skill helps to mitigate some of this pressure by giving Bayek extra time to hold his breath underwater. This ability is especially useful when a player is in a large underwater area with lots of loot to obtain.

3 Poison Darts

Poison Darts are a staple of the Assassin’s Creed series, being used by all of the most iconic Assassins. They return in Assassin’s Creed Origins, albeit locked in the Seer Skill Tree. Poison Darts act as crowd control in areas with a large number of enemies and allow Bayek to pick people off and thin the herd so that the player has an easier time of it when open combat is inevitable.

The Poison Darts are very useful and don’t cost too much from the Seer Skill Tree, so this ability should be bought as soon as the player is able to. Their base damage is decent but can be upgraded even further once the player unlocks the Master Seer ability.

2 Animal Taming

Animal Taming is a great skill, and not only is it one of the best in the Seer Skill Tree but in Assassin’s Creed Origins as a whole. This ability allows the player to tame an animal to have it protect and fight for Bayek, which can be a lot of help considering the sheer amount of enemies the player will have to take on throughout the game. While taming wild animals so easily may not be a historically accurate aspect of Origins, it’s certainly fun.

Animal Taming is one of the final skills to obtain in the Seer Skill Tree, so it will be a while before players can access it. Nevertheless, they should look to obtain this skill as soon as they are able to.

1 Master Seer

Master Seer is the final Seer Skill in Assassin’s Creed Origins and gives the player a 1% buff to all tools such as the Poison Darts and more. It should not be prioritized over the other Seer Skills but when a player has reached the endgame they should look to get it. All the best open-world games give the player multiple ways to attack, and Origins succeeds in this.

This skill stacks an infinite number of times so the player can continually buff their gear damage to the point of being able to sit somewhere safe and pick off an entire fortress of enemies with the Poison Darts and bow.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
