Bayek’s journey continues on Curse of the Pharaohs, with the opening of an entirely new region. Within the region, Bayek will have to confront the resurrected pharaohs of old, and through them visit their afterlives. The afterlife is unlike any area previously visited in Assassin’s Creed Origins, filled with figures and creatures as strange as they are wonderous – and dangerous.
While in the afterlife, Bayek will be tasked with confronting the five aspects of each pharaoh’s soul, including the human-faced birds that fly around in large numbers and are invulnerable to harm. Calming the pharaohs will be Bayek’s main task, so to speak, and what better way to calm them than to defeat them in the normal realm and then pursuing them into the afterlife? The new content should be as challenging as anything in the base game, so players should expect a fight.
Regarding specific content additions within Assassin’s Creed Origins, the DLC will raise the level cap to 55 and unlock 7 new abilities. Four of the abilities will improve Bayek’s bow use, like inflicting Flesh Decay onto Predator Bow kills. There’s also the Favor of Osiris ability, which gradually refills tools and arrows while in the afterlife. But at 15 Action Points, players will have to work to earn such a strong ability.
Curse of the Pharaohs will be available individually and as part of Assassin’s Creed Origins’ Season Pass. Individually, the DLC will retail for a pricey $19.99 and will be available to download starting March 13 across all supported platforms.
Assassin’s Creed Origins is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
