Released in November 2020, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the latest entry in Ubisoft’s longstanding action-adventure stealth franchise. The game follows up the RPG formula first introduced in Assassin’s Creed Origins and later refined in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Like both its predecessors, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has also been receiving a host of content updates over time, including full-fledged story expansions such as Wrath of the Druids, The Siege of Paris, and Dawn of Ragnarok.

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will receive Update 1.6.2 come December 6. Ubisoft notes that it will be the game’s final content update, wrapping up two years of post-launch support that has been going on so far. In Update 1.6.2, players can expect “The Last Chapter,” which Ubisoft says will bring out a “touching and intimate conclusion to Eivor’s saga.” This epilogue will also tie up some of the storylines developed throughout the game, as well as offer closure to players’ time among the Raven Clan.
As for New Game+ mode in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft has decided not to add the feature despite it being a highly requested one. The news almost certainly will come as a disappointment, especially since both Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey added a New Game+ mode after launch, which let players replay the game’s campaign with the progression, build, and gear they earned on their first playthrough still intact.
Ubisoft explains the reasoning behind its decision, saying that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is built as a unique experience that is “very different from its predecessors in its structure.” It also adds that the depth of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gave the team “limited options to make replayability unique and rewarding.” As an alternative for players seeking more replayable content, Ubisoft thinks they will be better off with the Forgotten Saga roguelite game mode.
New Game+ mode is a fairly common feature in RPG games, and seeing that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will not be getting it after all these years may seem a little bit discouraging for fans who have been patiently waiting. Granted, they will still have new additional content to enjoy, and hopefully it can bring a satisfying ending to the game.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
