RELATED: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Character Could Easily Appear in Valhalla

With many praising Valhalla’s take on free choice in gender, some of the game’s developers were not happy with the decision. According to reports, the original intention was for Eivor to only be a woman but that idea was shot down. Thus, the game has allowed for cosplayers of both genders to tackle Eivor, although women and men cosplaying characters not matching their gender has always been welcomed by the cosplaying community.

Reports indicate that the main dissenter in Eivor only being a woman was Valhalla Director Ashraf Ismail. Following numerous allegations of abuse and misconduct, Ismail has been fired from Ubisoft. This firing occurs after Ismail stepped down from his position as director of Valhalla soon after the allegations were made public alongside a torrent of allegations against other Ubisoft employees.

Eivor cosplays will likely be a common fixture in the run up to Valhalla’s November launch. Once the game is out, cosplayers will have a chance to tackle the many side characters that exist within the land of vikings.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches November 17 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
