As a recent addition to the series, Eivor has several different ways to go fishing. Whether players choose to first build a fishing hut, fight in hand-to-fish combat, or just shoot them from afar with arrows they will eventually find some rarer catches across the world. One of these uncommon types is the Bullhead (small) which is needed as an offering to the Elisdon Altar but can be found without too much difficulty in the right places.

Updated on December 29, 2021, by Stephen LaGioia: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla continues to captivate its players with an ever-expanding array of quests, activities, and rich locales to get lost. Ubisoft has continued to sharpen its Viking blade with added content by way of new events, challenges, and DLC packs.

These include Crossover Stories, which taps and ties into the fan-favorite AC Odyssey, as well as the anticipated (and surely epic) add-on known as Dawn of Ragnarok. Added to this robust gameplay are a variety of sporadic World Events, which include XP-yielding Altars.

With players looking for opportune ways to empower Eivor in preparation for the new DLC, it seemed fitting to refresh and flesh out this handy guide, filling it out with more details surrounding the small Bullhead needed to complete the Elisdon Altar World Event.

Where is Elisdon Altar?

To initiate this fishing expedition, players will first need to trigger the World Event by seeking out Elisdon Altar. This appears as a large stone pillar with a hole in the center, which towers at the top of a hill. The Altar lies south of Ravensthorpe, across the way from the Nene River.

Once completed, Eivor will be rewarded a hefty amount of XP, a useful Skill Point, and a +1 Grantebridgescire Mystery. But first, players will need to seek out the 10 small Bullhead…

Best Bullhead Locations

Note: If players are far away from any of the following locations or struggle to find the precise locations of the fish, bring up the map and fast travel over. Upon arrival, look at the river and use Odin Sight to check how many Bullheads are nearby.

One of the best spots to check out is Ledecestrescire, near the town of Ledecestre. Head to the left side of the village when arriving in this area, where the Bullhead will be found in large numbers in the river. Alternatively, players can also find plenty of small Bullheads in Grantebridgescire at the river junction near the Elisdon Altar. At least 10 fish should be swimming nearby at a given time. These two locales are the best spots to find small Bullhead in abundance, though there are a handful of other areas where they can sometimes be found.

Another spot is the Nene River to the north of the Altar, near the Ravensthorpe dock. Keep in mind, though, there are many other types of fish lurking in this river. There is a smaller area where Bullheads can be caught without having to fish or navigate through deep water. The location is in East Anglia at the Deod River between Britannia’s Watch and the Grimes Graves. Players can walk through the river and simply attack fish using weapons such as an axe or spear. Bullhead can also be found in the rivers of Essexe, Lincolnscire, Eurvicscire, and Snotingehamscire.

Another side note: Players should grab 10 extra fish because they will eventually stumble upon another altar in Glowestrescire that requires the same offering as the Elisdon Altar.

This Altar also requires exactly 10x small Bullheads, and can be found in the southwest region of Glowestrescire, just to the northwest of the river junction, and just west of the massive Viewpoint.

Tips On Catching Small Bullhead Effectively

Once Eivor is set up, start fishing or jump in the river and start firing arrows—but be careful not to miss and scare off the fish, as it doesn’t take much. Players can always wait in silence or leave for a bit so that the fish return. The preferred method to catch them is to fire a bunch of arrows while on a boat and collect the Bullheads afterward. It is recommended to use Light Arrows rather than the potent Explosive Arrows or other types due to their high rate of fire. The Fishing Hut (which allows Eivor to use a fishing rod) is useful for players that choose not to waste arrows, though this takes some time and effort. Stabbing the fish with a spear is another resourceful, and fairly effective means to catch them. However, players should tread carefully as this is an easy way to scare them off. Wait for a school of fish to gather near the side of the river before striking. In the end, it shouldn’t take very long to gather the required small Bullheads using any of the mentioned locations, but players should continue using Odin’s Sight and rapidly fire arrows once they’re highlighted for the quickest, most effective catches.
