Since its release in September 2020, Ubisoft has updated Assassin’s Creed Valhalla countless times. While a lot of these updates have been primarily focused on fixing technical issues, the vast majority of them have also added heaps of new content to the game, ranging from new gear to new missions, and everything in between. Well, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has just received its 1.6.0 update, and it may just be one of the biggest yet, adding a whole new game mode, along with a returning fan-favorite event....

Gerrit Cole’s exit from Houston seemed a bit messy. Cole was warmed and un-warmed by A.J. Hinch three times in the deciding Game 7 of the World Series, and was left in the bullpen as Houston blew that game to Washington. After the game, Cole mentioned he was “no longer an employee” of the Astros and, while factually true, it seemed that something else was afoot. While many were quick to write off a Cole-to-Houston reunion, Astros owner Jim Crane isn’t closing that door just yet....

At a long-awaited apology news conference Thursday, Houston owner Jim Crane said his team’s 2017 sign-stealing scheme “didn’t impact the game” and struggled to articulate why the players who participated in a scheme described as “player-driven” shouldn’t be punished for their actions. Predictably, Crane began his remarks by pointing to the steps he’s taken since November and portraying himself as already having addressed the issue — not-so subtly emphasizing that he had already issued an apology, and saying the team “went above and beyond” by firing GM Jeff Luhnow and manager A....

The Astros announced on Tuesday the 2017 All-Star underwent Tommy John surgery this week and will miss next season. He is expected to make a full recovery. McCullers threw a career-high 128.1 innings during the regular season in 2018 and struck out 142 batters while posting a 3.86 ERA. He suffered what the Astros called “forearm discomfort” in an August start against the Los Angeles Dodgers and missed the next month of the season....

One of those teams is the Reds, who won two out of three at Yankee Stadium in what can be chalked up as a fluke. The other is the Astros, who took five out of seven games in their season series, capped by a doubleheader sweep Thursday, the first day out of the All-Star break. With the twin wins, the Astros moved to 61-32 on the season, just 2.5 games back of the Yankees for the best record in baseball....

Now, two Los Angeles-area Little League organizations have decided to ban Astros as one of its team names. The leagues in Long Beach and East Fullerton, California, have decided to strip the name Astros from its lineup of teams, even when the real Astros weren’t stripped of their World Series title in 2017, nor any individual awards won by its players that season. Steve Klaus, the Long Beach Little League president, said his league informally considered dropping the name during the offseason, but more serious conversations have led to the league changing its bylaws and creating a permanent ban....

The Empress of Tomorrow broke character and hugged Lynch during the segment. Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue revealed on the new Dropkick DiSKussions podcast that Asuka was not informed about Becky Lynch’s pregnancy, however, she did know that she would get the title. According to Colohue, that was Asuka’s real reaction and not something that was done for kayfabe reasons. The reaction was genuine and heartfelt and it may have possibly turned Asuka babyface in the process....

It’s a worrying thought, but there is another way to protect your device. Asus is expanding its lineup of devices equipped with Antibacterial Guard, a coating the company claims provides 99% antibacterial protection to the areas you touch the most: keyboard, trackpad, palm rest and power button/fingerprint scanner. Once upcoming Zenbook devices are released, it means 8 out of every 10 Asus laptops sold will feature Antibacterial Guard. It’s already available on a wide range of Vivobook hardware, including its S and Pro lines....

With the first two installments in the Assassin’s Creed series, the advertising surrounding the games focused more on the size of the game world Ubisoft had created and the inventive new ways to dispatch targets. But for Brotherhood, Ubisoft seems to be promising an experience that fans of the series have yet to feel. With the PlayStation 3 multiplayer beta officially starting Oct. 4th (although the beta is currently available for PSN Plus subscribers in PAL countries and those who pre-ordered through GameStop), this newly released trailer shows some of the available game modes, which are definitely new territory for the series:...

The Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed VR games will be developed by Ubisoft Red Storm, who is best known for working on Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy games, with support from Ubisoft Reflections, Dusseldorf, and Mumbai studios. Not many details were offered during the Facebook Connect presentation, although Ubisoft commented that both games are being made from the ground up for VR and will be exclusive to Oculus platforms, including the newly announced Oculus Quest 2....

According to leaks and rumors, the next Assassin’s Creed title that gamers can expect is Assassin’s Creed Rift. It is reportedly a smaller game focused on stealth, which may be a nice change of pace after Valhalla which was exhaustingly colossal. If Assassin’s Creed Rift is truly on the way, it may be a good idea for Ubisoft to not delay releasing it on the Nintendo Switch, as it sounds like the perfect title for the platform....

Ubisoft has addressed the issues surrounding previous entries in the series, saying that they learned from Unity. Bearing that in mind, it’s important for the developers to provide a rock solid release with the forthcoming sequel should they wish to retain the franchise’s fan base, while also expanding their audience at the same time. To put it succinctly, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s technical aspects and narrative threads need to be airtight if the franchise is to survive and thrive....

Similar to other tracking missions in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players looking for Count Odo need to gather clues and search certain areas to pin down his location. The call to hunt down Count Odo comes from a mission early in The Siege of Paris in which players talk to Toka and Sigfred at the latter’s forward camp. To start, three pieces of this armor set in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are earned by increasing Renown with Dublin. More specifically, those pieces are the Dublin Champion Bracers, the Dublin Champion Cloak, and the Dublin Champion Helmet, and they are awarded at Renown levels two, four, and five respectively. In a blog post released earlier this week, Ubisoft described how 4K will work on PS5 and Xbox Series X for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. A very small, but also very notable difference in language was used for the two consoles. Specifically, Ubisoft said Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be “4K resolution at 60 frames per second” on Xbox Series X, while it will be “4K and 60 frames per second” on PS5....

First noticed by @PlayWithJambo on Twitter, the Easter egg is located at Foris Turre in Wessex. Instead of being called Dungeons and Dragons outright, Valhalla dubs the game Prisons and Pyewackets, though one of the lines in the Dungeon Master’s notes references “the faded glory found in the bones of dungeons and the mouths of dragons,” a very clear reference to the game’s title. The Assassin’s Creed games have always been noteworthy for their sheer size and scale. With the latest few entries in the series, especially Valhalla, Ubisoft has endeavored to pair a massive world with a branching story, ideally bringing the series more in line with traditional RPGs like The Witcher 3.
